Braves Wrestlers Win Two on the Road

The Braves youth wrestling team visited the Pennridge Rams on Jan. 3. In Junior Varsity action, the Braves' Dillynn Lockhoff posted a 14-0 major decision over Jack Fallon, and Zakary Rek defeated Kevin Lewman 6-3.
Eight Braves wrestlers received forfeits, and the JV club coasted to a 55-29 victory.
An exciting varsity match began with four consecutive Braves' pins by Jonathan Hansen, Bryce Lesko, Matt Martin, and Maxwell Schultz. Jared Kuhns' 10-2 major decision over Andrew Saville made the score 28-6, Upper Perk. Pennridge surged back with four straight pins of their own in the middle weights to take a 30-28 lead. Bryan Pijanowski pinned the Rams' Kalvine Esterline, and Mike Lockhoff's 12-2 major over Levi Swanger put the Braves back on top 38-30.
The Rams came right back with two more pins to retake the lead, 42-38, with only two matches remaining. In a pair of must-win matches, Upper Perk's Tristan Bradley pinned Mikey Roeder in 1:21, and Billy Brower followed with a dramatic pin over Andrew Reinhold seconds before time expired, giving the Braves a 50-42 victory. Their next match is at Souderton on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 6:30.
In other Braves' news, several members of the club participated in the Pottsgrove Holiday Tournament on Jan. 2. Maxwell Schultz, Matt Martin, and Jack Cupitt took third-place honors, Nathan Reinhart, Jared Kuhns, and Jacob Folk placed second, and Matt Reinhart brought home first place honors.
